As a photographer, one of my favorite things is a couple who believes in me and says, “Whatever you say, I trust you.”
My hope is to be that trusted source for you.
Over the next several months, I hope to get a chance to build a relationship that will allow you to let go of the reins and just be yourself. But I understand that trust is tough to give - especially when you're stressed.
And so much more...
And weddings can be stressful!
I vividly remember feeling totally overwhelmed by my own wedding.
And if I had it to all do over again, I would slow down and make better decisions on a few of my vendors (but that's a story for another day...).
Experiencing the stress first hand- and being surrounded and supported by my own family- is why I spend time learning about the two of you and figuring out ways to put you at ease, to bring a sense of calm to your day, and to help you make decisions and stay present along the way.
After all, this day only happens once. You've done all this planning in advance to make sure you can enjoy the day. And trust me, you don't want to miss it!
"Wedding planning really stressed me out, but Adriana always reached out to make sure we all the boxes were checked."
-Samantha
Over the course of many years working hard to create consistent and beautiful photographs, one major thing that has been impressed upon me is the importance of the EXPERIENCE. Weddings are amazing, a roller-coaster whirlwind ride, and many of the people who will help you get to the other side still standing are the very vendors you hire and trust to guide you.
I'm a stickler with communication, so you'll never find me ghosting you. I'll be guiding you with tips, expectations, questionnaires and timelines, answering all of your e-mailed questions within hours, and having a good laugh (and a good cocktail!) with you during your engagement session.

My goal is simple: I will work WITH you and FOR you. If your mom wants photos with all of your aunts and their aunts' aunts', we'll make it happen! If you want to try a certain photo, but are a little embarrassed to admit it, let me know and it's as good as done.

Unlike many photographers, I didn't set out to make this my career.
I mean, I always knew I wanted to tell stories and do something creative, but I just assumed I would follow the path of writer or artist of a different kind.
After taking a photography course in college and then photographing a friend's elopement, however... I was hooked.
And talk about loving a job! Fourteen years in (6 of those full-time), and I cannot imagine doing anything else- especially now that I've paired down to smaller weddings- less is more! Every wedding gives me the chance to hone my skills and improve my process.
And after all this time, I've come to realize that the more I photograph, the more I learn about where to focus my efforts. I've become a bit of an expert on challenges like low lighting, poor weather conditions, and editing techniques that enhance the beauty of whatever the day may bring.
So you can trust that regardless of what obstacles we face, your photographs are going to be gorgeous.

"Adriana is extremely invested in developing herself as both a businesswoman and a photographer. I know from keeping in touch with her via Instagram DMs after my wedding (that’s how much I love her!) that she attends workshops and constantly keeps up to further improve herself both tactically and artistically. It’s impressive how much she loves her craft and that’s the kind of photographer you want to hire. Someone committed to doing her absolute best for you." - Esther
"My husband and I are incredibly awkward in front of a camera and were nervous for our shots as bride and groom. But, she already scouted out the entire property before we started, knew exactly which photos she wanted to take, cued us up so we didn't feel silly but also gave us the freedom to still be ourselves, and moved efficiently so we had all of the photos we wanted but got to get back to the party as soon as possible. She fit herself into the day seamlessly and for that, I am forever grateful!" -Emma
You're worried about looking awkward or having images taken from weird angles or of your "bad side".
Can I give it to you straight for a minute?
It is awkward.
You're going to feel uncomfortable. Even I feel weird about having my picture taken. But I promise it'll get better with time! And I'll make it easier for you by telling you how I want you to interact, cracking some jokes, and reminding you who you are under normal circumstances. (You know... when you're not the center of attention...)
“Adriana will definitely make you feel valued as a client and prioritize any concerns you have, even when you have crazy questions like I did! During the photoshoots, she makes you feel extremely comfortable while taking pictures and will go above and beyond to make the experience great. She'll hold your veil, hold your hand so you don't fall from that tricky rock you just climbed up, she even helped me put on my dress! In the end, you'll feel like you've been friends for years. As for the end result - the photos - I am IN LOVE with them!” -Stephanie
In the end, I hope that you'll come to trust that I'm going to capture you in the best possible light.
Speaking of obstacles, if you're like most couples, you're probably worried about getting your pictures taken.

And I don't want to miss them either! After all, once a moment has passed, there's only so much I can do, amirite?
So together we'll prepare for the day by creating a preliminary timeline that lends enough space for all that is important to you.
Then, closer to the wedding day, we’ll review the photography questionnaire to make adjustments to the timeline if needed, and put in a little wiggle room for any last-minute emergencies.
You can trust that you'll get to sit back, relax, and actually enjoy the celebration.
You don't want to miss out on moments that can't be repeated.
I'll scout your venue in advance, or I'll arrive early to search for not-to-be-missed backdrops and picture-perfect locations. And come wedding day, I'll reconfirm the schedule with all parties to be sure that your planner, family, and friends are, quite literally, on the same page. Then I'll call the shots during family portraits, and I'll move the bridal party along - all without raising my voice.
So instead of feeling rushed or scheduled for every minute of the day…

There's just something about the darkness and stripped-back nature of the far North that centers you and leaves you with nothing but your emotions.
That no-nonsense feeling and raw emotion is what I hope to convey through my photos.
And it's why I named my business HereNorth. Because I want to give you images that reflect that pure love and emotion. Here. Now.
When I was a fifth-grader, I fell in love with a book series about a little girl who was desperately trying to get back to her father in Alaska. In the middle of the story, she got lost in the Yukon and had to follow a pack of wolves to figure out how to survive.
The descriptions of landscapes and tundra really appealed to me. So, when I was 27, I decided to go and experience Alaska first hand.
A Grateful Heart
I came back with a grateful heart and a renewed sense of self.

We'll setup a time to talk. Either video chat or in-person locally to me, whatever works for you! Weddings are a HUGE DEAL, so I want to make sure I understand where my couples are regarding style and vision. This means "meeting" you, in person or on video chat. We can plan a FaceTime "date" or chat over coffee in my town.

You let me know which collection you've selected and we get that contract signed and the retainer paid to secure your date (30% of the total!). We pop open a bottle of celebratory champagne, real or imaginary.
One little note: I can't save any date without a contract signed and retainer paid. I do put a courtesy 72 hour hold on your wedding date after consultation, but beyond that, nothing is secured on the calendar. Dates book up fast (I'm not kidding, some people book two years in advance), so be ready to LOCK IT IN if you're in love!
