In today’s wedding world, the idea of a First Look is not foreign to most couples planning their wedding. While I’ve discussed at length all of the plusses of doing a First Look, the follow up question I often get is: “What are my options?”
I’ve rounded up five great ones!
This one is the most popular and commonly done option. Groom has his back to his partner, the partner walks up to tap him on the shoulder, and he turns around and sees her for the first time.
Like the one above, groom has his back to his partner, but as his partner walks up, she calls out his name so that he turns and sees her walking towards him. A variation would be if the partner comes around a corner.
The couple is positioned back to back, and when they’re ready, they both turn around at the same time. Tip: this is sometimes a great time to read letters to each other!
One partner walks down one side of a building/house and the other walks down the other side and they meet as they round the corner. You can do this inside too such as with a wall dividing you two and then meeting in the doorway, or having a door divide you- a great option in case the weather is not ideal outside.
This is not one I do often since you need a staircase to do it, but one partner waits at the bottom watching while the other comes down the stairs.
And that’s it! Hopefully this makes deciding how you’d like to do your reveal a tad bit easier, and if you’ve got any other recommendations you’ve seen, feel free to drop them below in the comments!
